julia & damian's rally blog - 2005: Food Glorious Food

Hi, we've just returned from taking part in something called the 'Mongol Rally', an 8,000+ mile dash across ¼ of the earth's surface in car that most people would consider way underpowered for doing the shopping, let alone crossing 12 countries, 5 mountain ranges and 3 deserts in under 6 weeks. There were no support vehicles, no carefully marked out route, no professional drivers, no fast cars and virtually no sleep. It was just us, our citroen 2CV called 'Moo Moo' and a load of other competitors with their clapped out cars and thousands of miles of horrendously bumpy roads, extreme temperature swings and inhospitable terrain to overcome, in what turned out to be one of the world's most ridiculous car challenges - And it was all in aid of raising money for a charity called 'SEND A COW', that provides livestock to subsistence farmers in Africa. So please continue to help us raise as much money as possible by giving as generously as you can. Thanks

Food Glorious Food

We've had some good, some great, some bad and some dreadful food on this trip. Some tastes still linger on while others have seriously challenged us, none more so thatnthe little white balls we tried on a stall by the side of the road selling apples and honey in Uzbekistan....
